Obituary of Elizabeth L. "Betty" (Estlinbaum) McInerney
Mrs. Elizabeth L. “Betty” (Estlinbaum) McInerney, 91 of Westvale, passed away peacefully at UpState Hospital at Community General, on August 22, 2018.
Elizabeth was born in Syracuse, New York to Frederick and Felicia (Kallfelz) Estlinbaum on November 27, 1926. She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School (1944) and The College of New Rochelle (1948). Betty was employed with the New York Telephone Company. After raising her family, Betty worked at St. Camillus Nursing Home for 24 years managing the gift shop. Betty would always go the extra mile to shop for that “special gift” for the residents' loved ones and was known to be ready, willing and able to drive anyone that was in need of a ride. Betty was a communicant and Eucharistic minister at St. Charles and St Patrick’s Church. She was an avid bowler and golfer and a long-time member of Tuscarora Golf Club. Betty spent countless hours volunteering for the Altar and Rosary Society, the St. Lucy's Bread of Life luncheon, St. Lucy’s Food Pantry and Community General Hospital.
Betty was pre-deceased by her husband Leo J. McInerney (1986). She is survived by her two sons, Michael J. and Alicia McInerney of Marcellus, and Paul D. and Tara McInerney of Onondaga Hill, seven grandchildren, Leo (Julia) McInerney, Shannon (Stephen) Vaga, Kelly McInerney (TJ Shaw), Maggie, Maureen, Colleen and Grace McInerney, three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Nicholas and Marcas Vaga and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 12pm on Monday, August 27, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Church, Syracuse NY followed by a burial at the Onondaga County Veteran’s Cemetery, Onondaga Hill. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5pm on August 26th at the Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home, Bellevue Avenue, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center and St. Patrick’s Church, Syracuse NY.
