Obituary of Celestine G. Dennis

Celestine G. Dennis, 90, passed away Friday February 9, 2017. She was born in Syracuse on Sept 4, 1926 to the late James P. and Louise Baker Gartland. Celestine was a graduate of Most Holy Rosary. She continued her education and graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in 1947. The majority of her working life was spent as a Visiting Public Health Nurse for Onondaga Co. She was an avid Syracuse Orange basketball fan. Celestine is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Charles D. Dennis and a daughter Patricia A. Buerman. Surviving from her immediate family are 2 sons, William C. Dennis of Stony Point and Charles E. Dennis of Syracuse; 5 grandchildren, Charlene DeLallo of Rochester, Leland C Buerman and Sadie Ann Buerman of Syracuse, William J Dennis of Cooperstown and Megan K Dennis of Harrisburg as well as one great grandchild, Riley Dennis. The family would like to thank all of the people at the Elderwood Facility in Liverpool for the superior care and support that they gave to Celestine for the last few years of her life. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday February 15, 2017 at 10am at St. Joseph's Church in Camillus. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Joseph's House for Women, 1101 Burnet Ave Syracuse, NY 13203.
