Obituary of Dominic P. Marando

     Dominic P. Marando, 87, of Camillus passed away Thursday January 4, 2018 in Syracuse, NY.

     Dom enjoyed a sixty-two-year career in the Insurance and Financial Services Industry beginning with Metropolitan Life in 1951. He and his family moved to Syracuse, New York in 1966 as he became agency district manager with Met Life. In 1977 Dom transitioned to American General Life as agency manager and was recognized with numerous service and sales achievement awards over the years. In 1985 he formed D.P. Marando Associates Inc. representing American General and Security Mutual Life clients as well as several independent investment firms. Dom cherished the relationships with all his clients many of whom he considered his closest friends. He enjoyed relaxing with his family at their summer home on DeRuyter Lake and giving pontoon boat tours to all his guests. His generous spirit will be missed by all who loved him.

     Dom is predeceased by his parents Pasquale & Angelina Marando, as well as his sister Stella Hunter.

    He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Elizabeth “Betty” Marando; a son, Gary (Judith); a daughter, Donna Marando; grandchildren, Kelly (Jeremy) Hildreth, Christopher (Meagan Rogers), Kerrie (David) Morton and Penelope Lane as well as a great granddaughter Charlotte May Morton.

    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Thursday January 11, 2018 at St. Michaels-St. Peters Church, Onondaga Hill. Calling hours will be held from 4-7pm on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery, Dewitt.
