Jerry,
Never met your extended family before but felt like I've known them my whole life. That's as a much a tribute to your Mom and Dad as it is to all of you, I'm sure. When I go to church, I like to look at all my fellow mortal people I've never met when they line up to take the host and take solace that they are all part of the body which will share in God's great plan eternally. I'm convinced Your family, especially your Mom, are important members for sure.
After the Service concluded as I was waiting to greet you, I was struck by the talking I heard in the Chapel. Not the words you see, but the everyday regularity of talk .... Lots of it and even laughter. After pondering for a moment I thought ... This is all good. People with such life coming to see your Mother off.
I told sister Julie she made me cry near the end
of the Service for your Mom. And I needed to cry for what I heard. My Mom is still here with me. And at 94, I too now realize I have never thanked her either. I will tonight when I go over to watch SU play Pitt on her big screen TV. Thank Julie for me, and I will write you soon. You were always one of the "Good Guys".
