Obituary of Jenny Campolieta Herron
Please share a memory of Jenny to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On April 18, Jenny Campolieta Herron passed away with the love and respect of her family and all who her knew her. Jenny lived a life shaped by love of family, empathy for others, and a passion for fashion. She was born on September 29, 1915 to Michalena Vanelli and Pasquale Campolieta in Syracuse, NY. Jenny possessed a sassy sense of humor, timeless style, and a generous heart.
She is survived by her children, Patrick (Ann) and Anne (Peter Rafalow); grandchildren, Timothy, Dennis (Allison Baratta; Burlington, New Jersey), Matthew (Long Beach, CA), Patrick, and Jenna (San Jose, CA);a great grandson Django and siblings, Dinny Kowalczyk (Stanley), Gilda Sayles (Thomas), and their children. Jenny was predeceased by her parents; husband, Richard Herron; sister, Fay DeCarlo (Nicholas); brothers, Patsy, Michael (Josephine) and Joseph (Lois) Campolieta; and several nieces and nephews.
For almost 50 years, she owned and operated Jenny Herron's, a retail women's clothing shop on Syracuse's Westside. Known for her numerous fashion shows for charity and support of her beloved parish, St. Brigid-St.Joseph, she always offered patrons a keen understanding of style and a sympathetic ear. A graduate of Vocational High School and Central City Business School, she always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, so she used that interest and her many talents to carve out a professional life at a time when many career paths were not available to women. We are forever grateful that she was Jenny Herron, our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend—a woman of integrity, kindness, and wisdom.
The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at St. Camillus Health & Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care. A special thank you to Angela Scaffido, the guardian angel on the second floor of St. Camillus.
