Obituary of Mary Gallivan Colbert

Mary Gallivan Colbert, 87, of Camillus, died Monday evening at The Centers at St. Camillus after a long illness.
Born in Syracuse to Timothy M. Gallivan and Marguerite Cloonan Gallivan, Mary grew up in Westvale. She was a 1945 graduate of The Convent School. She worked many years for and retired from K-Mart. Mary was a communicant of Holy Family Church, Fairmount, and enjoyed Bible Study with her friends. Those who knew Mary described her as a beautiful person, inside and out, and one who appreciated the beauty in others.
Mary was predeceased by her mother, Marguerite Cloonan Gallivan, in 1932; her father, Timothy M. Gallivan, in 1972; her brother, John R. Gallivan, in 1986; a special aunt, Julia Gallivan Rowe, in 1988; her sister-in-law, Gloria Simmons Gallivan, in 2002 and her husband, John Bernard Colbert, in 2006.
Mary is survived by her son, Michael B., of Camillus; her daughter, Margaret M. Lucio of Memphis; her grandson, Keith Hanson of Jordan; her brother, Dr. Timothy R. Gallivan, of Camillus; her niece, Maureen A. Gallivan, of Camillus; a special cousin, Julia R. Fletcher, of Syracuse; a sister-in-law, Mary Gallivan of Jordan, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015, at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue, Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of Mary's life will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Fairmount. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Syracuse.
