Obituary of Harry L. Perkins

Harry L. Perkins Jr., 91, of Fairmount passed while vacationing in St. Augustine, FL on February 16, 2016. He was a proud veteran of World War II, drafted out of high school. He served in England, France and Germany on the Mighty 8th Air Force for 3 ½ years in charge of demolition. After returning home he met and married the love of his life, Irene. He retired after 40 years from Axe and Arthur Motor Express. He was a third degree mason, member of the VFW, life member and past president of Mad River Club, Camillus Sportsman Club, and Gem and Mineral Society of Syracuse. He was a life member of the Fairmont Fire Department and Vice-President of the Exempt and Benevolent Association of the Department. He was active in the Boy Scouts with his sons. He loved hunting, fishing, trapshooting, playing poker, making jewelry, cutting stones, lottery tickets, but most of all his family.
Harry is predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Irene, grandchildren, Arthur Perkins II and Colleen Perkins. He is survived by his sons, Arthur (Sue), H. Lloyd III (Anne), daughter, Kathleen Perkins, granddaughters, Nancy (Gregg) Opitech, Sara (Dennis) Raasch, and great grandsons, Nick and Sam Opitech.
Funeral services will be on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10 am at St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. Calling hours will be held from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners, NY.
