Obituary of Maria Towns Freeman

Maria Towns Freeman, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on August 21, 2016. Maria was born in Halifax, N.C and grew up in NYC. She was a graduate of Bellevue Hospital Nursing School and worked at a State County Home in Elmira, NY before moving to Syracuse in 1984. Maria was predeceased by her son, James Purnell and her sister, Elizabeth Huntin. She is survived by her granddaughter, Chantelle Purnell, her sister, Dorothy May Pryor in NC and god daughter, Cynthia Jones. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 4 to 6 pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse, NY. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Missionary Baptist Church, 319 W. Kennedy St., Syracuse NY 13205.
