Obituary of Marilyn F Riley

Marilyn (Forster) Riley, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2018 with her family at her side.  Marilyn was born June 8, 1931 to George and Dorothy Forster and was a life-long resident of Syracuse.  She graduated from Eastwood High School and began working for Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation where she met her husband, Dick. After raising her 5 children, she worked at Dey Brothers for several years. Marilyn was a communicant of St. Charles/St. Ann’s parish in Syracuse.  She volunteered her time by making sandwiches for the Oxford Street Inn and had been a Eucharist Minister at Bellevue Manor.  Marilyn enjoyed playing golf and was a NY Yankees fan.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.  She was extremely proud of her grandchildren’s many achievements and she was always happy having her 2 great-grandchildren around her. 

 

Marilyn was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Dick, her sister and brother-in-law, Joan and John Hughes and her brother-in-law, Ron Riley.  Marilyn is survived by her five children Mary Ellen (Mark) McAnaney of Onondaga Hill; Michael (KJ) of Camillus; Rosemary of Syracuse; Mark (Susan) of Columbia, Maryland and Elizabeth (John) Anderson of Chesterfield, Virginia; grandchildren Meaghan (Scott) Stanton, Patrick (Ginny) McAnaney, Sean, Mark and Maura McAnaney; Katie, John, Colin and Mikaela Riley; Rebecca and Patrick Riley and Emily, Julia and Erin Anderson and great-grandchildren Clare and Ryan Stanton as well as her sister-in-law, Ginny Riley and many nieces and nephews. 

 

Funeral services will be at 9:30am at St. Ann’s Church, 4471 Onondaga Blvd Syracuse, on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Friends may call on Friday, May 25th from 3 to 6pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
