Obituary of Mary Margaret Ziemann

Mary Margaret Ziemann, 85, of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018.  Mary was a homemaker and a member of Most Holy Rosary Church, Most Holy Rosary Food Bank and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  She loved baking cookies for all of her family, was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles.  She was a big fan of Syracuse basketball and football.

Mary is predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Ziemann; parents, Michael and Winifred Hewitt; and brother, James Hewitt.  She is survived by her children, Margaret “Peg” (Richard) Leonardo, Mary E. Ziemann, John M. (Cathy), Michael and James; sisters, Anne (Ed) Keegan and Josephine Fitzpatrick; sisters in law, Joan Day and Suzanne Sarno; brother in law, Walter Garner; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mary’s home aides who took such great care of her and The Staff at Crouse Hospital for their compassionate service.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave.  Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Most Holy Rosary Food Pantry or Crouse Hospital.
