We are so saddened to hear of Bill’s passing, but are comforted to know that he is with the Lord. Bill was such an inspiration to others, always generous with his time and friendship. Our family will always be grateful for his kindness to our son and grateful for the wonderful memories on and off the golf course. May Dorothy and family find peace and healing. Love, Ed and Michelle

So sad to learn of Judge Burke's passing. I am a retired Syracuse Police Officer who was assigned to the Narcotics Division for nine years and cannot begin to tell you how many times Judge Burke signed our search warrants. After he left City Court, we searched him out in County Court to the displeasure of the City Court Judges. I just have to say, we enjoyed our moments and conversations with him that much. One time, late in the evening we needed a warrant signed. We found his car not home and proceeded to check the locals. We found his car a few miles away and went in, to ask him about signing a warrant. He said" I'll see you when I get home". We went back to the house and sat out front for quite some time. When he arrived home we rushed to the driveway to greet him, entered the house for him to review the warrant, thought he would sign it and send us on our way. Instead, he said " I'll sign it after I fix you guys some breakfast". He invited us into the kitchen, cooked up some eggs, and for the next hour the three of us sat at the table eating and laughing at all the fun stories we had. That's a true story. After he retired, I stopped at your home several times to say hello. Later my wife and I moved south and time moved on. I will never forget his friendship. God Bless him and may he rest in Peace. Well done Judge Burke.

I had the honor of working in Judge Burke's courtroom for many years. We had alot of laughs. One time he and I got caught up in uncontrollable laughter during court. He put a folder up in front of his face. I had to go into his chambers to stop laughing. When I went back into court we started laughing again. Great man, fair man and great memories.
RIP Judge..
You will be missed by many

Over 40 years ago I began trying felony cases before Judge Burke. I have many fond memories of those experiences, especially when Bill Fitzpatrick was on the other side. Years later I was fortunate to have Judge Burke as my “supervising judge”. I would stop by to see him almost every day, usually lunch time because he rarely went out to lunch. He would have a perfectly made sandwich, cut in half with precision (that I always suspected Mrs. Burke had made) and an apple for desert. We would talk, and I would seek his counsel, not so much on the law, but on being a judge. Those sessions are what I remember most. I never could and never would call him “Bill”. To me he always was and will always be “Judge Burke”!
My condolences to Mrs. Burke and family.

To the Burke Family
I wish to offer my deepest condolences to you. Judge Burke was one of the best Judges this community has ever seen, only to be surpassed by the how great he was a gentleman in the community. Judge Burke played such a large role in my career whether on the golf course or in the Courtroom. I am so grateful for the guidance he has provided me. I'm sure God has blessed him!
