Obituary of Millicent Adam
Millicent (Mim) Adam, 91, of Syracuse, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Community General Hospital a month short of her 92nd birthday. Mrs. Adam was born in Binghamton, New York and graduated from Binghamton Central High School. She attended Syracuse University where she met her husband, John Wesley Adam, who was among the returning WWII veterans to study at Syracuse under the GI Bill. They settled in the Valley where she was a communicant of St. James Church. Later they moved to Onondaga Hill where she attended St. Anne’s.
Mrs. Adam was a Registered Cytotechnologist employed by Upstate Medical Center in Cytology and Clinical Pathology Chemistry for twenty-two years as a proud member of CSEA. She was also a salesperson for Eagan Real Estate. She enjoyed bridge, collected antiques, and loved to shop. Christmas was her favorite time of year.
Predeceased by her parents, Mildred Shattuck Ring and Paul Henry Ring, and her husband of 60 years, John Adam, she is survived by her daughter, Bronwyn Adam of Syracuse; her son, Shawn Adam, and his wife, Mary Case Adam of LaFayette; four grandchildren, Wallis and Emily Patulski, Wesley Adam and Hillary Adam Payne; and three great-grandsons, one of whom she never got to meet.
Calling hours will be 4-7 Thursday, June 13, at Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, and funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 14, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 4471 Onondaga Blvd. Burial Will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
