Obituary of David H. Diefendorf
David H. Diefendorf, 59, of Syracuse, NY passed away unexpectedly on June 26th, 2019. He grew up the third of five children and was a lifelong resident of Onondaga Hill. He was a construction project manager throughout New York, most recently working as a Construction Administrator at Holt Architects. He was a graduate of Westhill High School and Utica College of Syracuse University. David enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Skaneateles Lake, skiing, and biking. He was a loving and devoted father, brother, and son. His greatest joy was coaching and watching his daughters play softball. He was actively involved in Geddes Little League and was the co-founder and administrator of the Salt City Cyclones Travel Softball Team.
David is predeceased by his father, Harlan, and the mother of his two daughters, Martha Phillips Lyon.
He is survived by his daughters, Claire and Leah, his mother, Muriel of Syracuse, NY, siblings, Deborah (Gary) Hind of Niskayuna, NY, Nancy (Richard) Downs of Syracuse, NY, James (Cynthia) of Glenville, NY, Susan Welch of Auburn, NY, his aunt, Mariann Schwarz of Syracuse, NY and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue, Syracuse, NY with burial to follow in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, July 1st from 4 to 7pm at the funeral home.
