Dorothy Mary (Kallfelz) Burke, 91, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on August 9, 2020.  The daughter of Leonard and Dorothy (Crowley) Kallfelz was born on September 23, 1928.   She grew up with her siblings, John, Leonard, Robert, William, and Mary Ann Breh in Syracuse, NY. She was a graduate of Central High School, where she was President of her sorority and head cheerleader. Dorothy worked in the insurance field after graduation.  She was an insurance underwriter for a large insurance carrier, The office of Frances Honold and The Young Agency.

Dorothy married her husband, Bill on June 21, 1952 and were blessed with three children; Patricia Mott, Michael (Sue) and Francis, five grandchildren; Benjamin Bresett (dec.), Suzanne Bresette (Todd) Monroe, Michael (Brynn) Burke, Elizabeth K. Burke, and Sarah A. Burke, one great granddaughter, Aurora Eirwyn Burke, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the Den Mom for both Girl and Boy Scouts in the area, and was the volunteer librarian at St. Ann’s School.  Dorothy was part of the founding membership of St. Ann’s Church.  She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Societies and Bereavement Committee, and a committee member of St. Ann’s Holiday Open House where she did the Altar clothes.

Dorothy was a long-time golf and tennis player but she loved her bowling most of all.

A devout Catholic, she made the time to say her rosary each and every day.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the staff at St Camillus for their care of our mom; thank you.
