Obituary of Paul K. Michaels
Paul Kenneth Michaels, born February 17, 1973, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 31.
The oldest son of 4 children born to Dr. and Mrs. Jack & Susan Michaels. Paul was predeceased by his father in 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Kelly (Henderson), his son Jack, and daughter Hadley; his mother Susan Michaels (Robarge), his brothers John (Colette) and William, and his sister Susan Moak.
In addition to his loved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws Kenneth & Donna Henderson, brother and sister in-law John & Tracy Galusha, and many, many friends.
A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, he graduated from Westhill High in 1991 and then St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. Paul had a huge heart and a true passion for life, his family, friends, and animals. He was compassionate and always ready to help anyone in need. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his laugh was truly contagious! Paul cherished his relationship with his brother, John. He was his best friend. They both loved SU and loved to watch the games together. Along with a close-knit group of friends, they were a force to be reckoned with on game day.
Of all his accomplishments in life, Paul was most proud of the family that he and Kelly created. Jack, 18, is a freshman at The University of Notre Dame and is a proud member of the Glynn Family Honors Program. Hadley, 16, a high honor roll student at Baker High School in Baldwinsville is an accomplished softball player and a very talented artist. Paul was an active dad! He coached Jack in baseball & basketball and when Jack fell in love with cross country & track, so did Paul. He also coached Hadley in both softball and travel ball. Paul was their biggest fan. You could see his smile for miles and feel his great pride. He loved his children, the sports they played, and the friendships that grew from their sports families. Over the past few years Paul, Jack & Hadley have been hiking the Adirondack High Peaks together in hopes of one day climbing all 46. He also relished in the family’s yearly trips to Myrtle Beach where he taught the kids how to “ride the waves” and laughed with Kelly when the waves stole her sunglasses every year.
You could always tell when Pauly walked into a room. He brought light, happiness, laughter, and love. He will be greatly missed and loved for eternity by all who knew him.
