Margaret Lounsbery

Obituary of Margaret Ellen Lounsbery

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Margaret E. Lounsbery left this world to be reunited with her one true love and favorite dance partner on Monday, October 5, 2020.  She passed peacefully at home surrounded by love. She was born on April 2, 1940 to Margaret E. and J. Stewart Dacey of Binghamton, New York. Peggy graduated from Binghamton School of Nursing and went on to work at Our Lady of Lourdes (Binghamton, NY), Community General Hospital and St. Camillus Nursing Home.  She was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church where she had served on the Alter Rosary Society. She was also an active member of the Hawaiian Village Association while she lived in Florida.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Dwight G. Lounsbery II (Lonnie), her parents, two sisters Patty Anne and Mary Lou “Mimi”, and brothers Michael and Robert.

She is survived by her brothers Dr. John S. (Linda) Dacey, William F. (Mary Ellen) Dacey, James A. (Lori) Dacey and Thomas P. (Marie) Dacey.

Her most beloved treasures were her children Michael (Christa), Timothy (Stacy), Marnie (John) Sardino, Daniel (Kristen), Sean (Jill), and Katie (Matthew) Collinge.  Twelve grandchildren, one great-grandson, nieces and nephews, and an amazing circle of friends.

Peggy believed that “mother” was a verb not a noun. She felt that mothering was an act of kindness to be given freely to family, friends and strangers.  She dedicated her life to this ideal and achieved it admirably.

There will be a private ceremony at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

There will be a mass of celebration date to be determined.
