Obituary of Gail A. Metzger

Gail A Gleason was born March 7, 1950 to Ruth and Lucius Gleason of Westvale. She was educated at St. Charles Catholic School. She attended Bishop Ludden H.S. Graduating in 1968. She went on to OCC Community College to study for dental hygienist education studies. She married Ronald D. Metzger on February 22,1969 at St Charles Catholic Church by Monsignor Clark.

She raised three children, Christian D. Metzger, Brijin A. Metzger, and Timothy A. Metzger. Gail was a homemaker until 1981, at which time she then worked for Dental Surgeon Dr. Denny Young for the next five years. She then worked for Geddes Federal Savings for two Years. She then worked for St. Camillus Nursing Home as Admission Administrator. Finally she joined her husbands' Allstate Insurance agency as office manager and senior sales agent.

After the loss of her youngest son, Timmy, from a virus, she and her husband formed a memorial golf tournament at Bellevue C. C. called the Tim Metzger Memorial Jr. Masters. This tournament, which ran for 12 years, was open to 120 boys and girls in the Syracuse District Golf to play two days at Bellevue C.C. to win the green jacket and the title. The fund raising aspect allowed four Year Scholarships to those in need; which is still being given today to young men and women going to college.

Gails favorite activities where golfing, sailing, travel, and gardening. 

She will be missed by friends and neighbors. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave. Syracuse, NY.  Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.
