Obituary of Jacqueline W. Ross

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jacqueline Ross passed away peacefully at home on May 14th 2021 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with ALS. Jackie was born in 1950 in Cambridge NY to Phillip and Monica (Hunt) Wayman. She was a 1968 graduate of West Genesee High School and St. Lawrence University including a year of overseas study in Austria. She resided in Marcellus NY for the past 47 years. She enjoyed a distinguished career of nearly 40 years at Van Duyn Home and Hospital serving as Director of Social Work and Assistant Administrator. In her retirement years she added to her long list of friends at the Tuscarora Golf Club and her weekly Mah Jong games. Lunches and dinners with the Betty’s were cherished moments. One of her most important lessons in life was that anything was better with Chardonnay. But her most cherished roles in life were wife, mother and grammie to Nick, Cam, Jax and Riley.

She was predeceased by her parents and beloved aunt Bessie Shields of Cambridge, NY.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Daniel, daughters, Megan (Matthew) Malette of Albany and Martha (Michael) Gillette of Rochester, her four adorable grandchildren, brothers, Charles (Hope) Wayman of Newport, NC and Eugene (Amanda) Wayman of Smithfield, VA, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

At the request of the family, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marcellus Free Library or The ALS Association of Upstate New York, Liverpool NY.
