Obituary of Caleb Calkins- Schmidt

Caleb T. Calkins – Schmidt, 11 of North Syracuse passed away on August 27, 2021 in Circleville, OH after one last amazing family vacation in TN.  Caleb was born on Oct. 7, 2009 and was a student at Roxboro Rd Middle School, where he earned the School Citizenship Certificate Award.  He wanted to be a vet and loved all pets, especially cats and foxes, including his cat, Lucy.  Caleb enjoyed swimming with the Electric Eels at the YMCA North, bowling at Turners (Syracuse) Club and tennis.  He loved video games, especially Plants vs. Zombies, and Five Nights at Freddy’s.  He enjoyed making youtube videos and more recently tiktoks.  Caleb had an infectious smile, luxurious curly locks, and eyes of the sky.  He was a kindhearted kid, who was loved by everyone he met and will be deeply missed.

Caleb is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Julie Russell and Ken Calkins, Aunt Brenda Calkins-Leahey, and paternal great grandmothers Ann Schmidt and Lona Madison.

He is survived by his parents, Donald Schmidt III and Ruth Calkins-Schmidt, 2 brothers, Brayden and Killian, and 1 younger sister, 3 grandmothers, 3 grandfathers, a great grandmother and grandfather, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, teachers and friends.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021 from 5 to 8pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Syracuse, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 10am at funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, DeWitt.
