Obituary of Joseph A. Hayes

Joseph A. Hayes, 82, lifelong resident of Tipperary Hill passed away on October 8, 2021.    Joseph was born December 9, 1938 the thirteenth child of the late Robert E. & Hazel Mahoney Hayes.   Joseph worked for his fathers’ business Hayes Plumbing & Heating and retired from Local #30 Asbestos Workers. 

Besides his parents, Joseph is predeceased by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Brazell, five sisters and their spouses Mary Elizabeth Donahue (James), Henriette Lodes, Theresa Mosedale (James), Lucy Henson, Roseanne Goodnough (Murray), six brothers and their spouses, Robert E. (Shirley), Jack P. (Ginny), Fr. Edward J., Honorable Leo F., Gus (William), and Master Sergeant Jeremiah T. Hayes.  

Joseph is survived by his daughter, Colleen of Camillus, four sons, Sean of Solvay, Kevin (Christine) of Parish, Joseph Jr. (Michelle) & Brian (Enrique) of Syracuse, his granddaughters, Marissa & Angelica of Syracuse and one great grandson, CJ.  He is also survived by his sister & brother-in-law Margaret (Peggy) & Paul Henson of Altmar & Port Richey FL, his brother-in-law James F. Henson of Syracuse, his sister-in-law’s Mrs. Arlene Hayes of Syracuse, Mrs. Margaret Hayes of Altmar, and Mrs. Heidi Hayes of Zephyrhills FL.  In addition, he is survived by his beloved four-legged companions Max & Chester.  

A memorial mass will be held October 22, 2021 at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave, Syracuse, NY 13204.
