John was a beacon of light with such a positive aura. I couldn't help but feel at ease in his presence. He seemed to have a peace with life that one could only hope to achieve. My kids and I were blessed with the opportunity to spend time with John over the past couple years at family gatherings. We will miss him. We love you Ann and are praying for you and the Cassidys and all of John's family and friends. Love, Maria Cometti

Every once in a while, we run into a special person who makes a lasting impression based solely on his mere presence. John was one of those individuals who transcended kindness, charisma and selflessness. He had this ability to make everyone smile and feel at ease through the simplest of discussions. Whether talking about food, growing vegetables or travelling, he would always find a way to express fascination when he was talking about his own experiences or listening to yours.
I will sorely miss seeing John at Tully Lake but I know this pales in comparison to the enormous void left in Ann’s heart. Ann, please accept my sincerest condolences in these most difficult times.

I met John at Ross Valery's home, where I had pitched a Teepee, He was at the time just getting Journey together, He and Herbie told me it (the band) was going to be like putting together an Olympic team with all stars, and they were going to be huge. Suffice to say he was right, huge. As was John, a man that always had a good word to say to you, and a killer smile. He cut my hair and made me feel like part of the family. Over the years I kept in touch a bit while he was retired in Capt Cook, He had invited me to visit, but it never happened. My loss. John was a bright light in times of tom foolery and in times that were darker. I have to say now Goodbye Juan, mi amigo. Rest now, my friend in peace.

Some 58 years ago I was fortunate enough to make John;s acqaintence and immediately it was "boy, I like this guy", and in this case, my first impression was righton. It seemed to me John was always smiling, We shared many good times together and that included the entire Villanueva family. Loyalty to friends has no boundaries, and that's John. He cares for all of us, and we all hold onto that gift. We may not see him anymore but that doesn't mean he is not with us. Our hearts may be broken but his spirit will always be with us. We love you, John. Sonny and Lois

We wanted to send our condolences to Ann and to all members of the Cassidy, Stiner, Ferris, and Villanueva families. We always enjoyed spending time with John, often at Tully Lake. John always surprised me because he would remember even obscure details from each and every conversation, even years before, and he would always ask about the kids and their evolving interests. John Villanueva was one of the sweetest, most gentle, and kind spirits. His love for music and his many roles in the Rock and Roll music scene were legendary (see a flavor of that moment below). But I enjoyed talking with him about food, cooking, and nature. He will be missed!

My heartfelt condolences to John's family and friends. He was a beautiful person, and he changed my life and opened doors for me that would probably never opened otherwise. He was always 'Keeper of the Kharma'. He will be missed.
