To Joanne and Jack's family,
So very sorry that Jack lost his life to cancer . I never saw anyone fight so hard to win the battle. How can you not admire his fortitude. He was a good friend to all and will be greatly missed. We all went to school together and remained friends over the years since. His kids and mine ran track together so we would bump into each other to catch up. Over the years it was hit and miss. Was able to enjoy a few conversations together at various gatherings..until he had to be wary of crowds through his treatments. Towards the end of his time chance played a part and we ran into each other once again. We got to say our goodbyes without actually saying goodbye. He still said "I'm not done yet Sheila!". Right to the end. And he convinced me. But this time was not to be. He truly opened his heart to all who knew him.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention his love for Joanne and all she did for him over the many years they shared. He always spoke of his concern for her through all of this rather than concern for himself. A selfless man. An amazing soul. He will be greatly missed but the reunion in heaven will be awesome. My best to all of you who loved him so. May his tenacity and memory live on in all of you.

Jack.
I haven’t lived in Syracuse since I was 17-18.
Jack was from Warners, I was from Camillus. Two different worlds.
Jack had his gang of buddies. Once in awhile we used to meet on the outdoor basketball courts. Always them against us.
Then, somehow, Jack and I ended up on the same Camillus Optimist basketball team.
I had quit the high school team and Jack never tried out. We were in it for the love of the game. We rocked the place. No one saw us coming. We had eyes in the back of our heads. We read each others mind. We both would rather throw an excellent pass, than score the points. We were a team. We were undefeated and untouchable. I left town. Jack stayed for the rest of his time. We got together once or twice after on my rare visits home. My buddy Jack was all and more of what people are saying about him here. I hope his children will carry the love and loyalty that he exemplified. No loss, just transition. His spirit lives in us all. Great guy. And that smile.
