So sorry to hear of Bob's passing and my condolences to Nancy, his other family members and friends. I first met Bob & Nancy in 1981, as a teenager on a budget with my broken down '66 Corvette. They treated me so well that I returned years later (once I was an adult with a real job lol) and bought the '66 that I still have and treasure to this day. But I treasure more the memories of my frequent visits to the Corvette Barn just for fun to look around and speak with Nancy & Bob. Such great folks in all respects that added so much to the Corvette hobby and more importantly to life in general.

I crewed for Bob for a couple of race seasons around 1983 at Watkins Glen, Pocono, Trois Rivieres Canada (where we changed the gear box three times in one weekend) and others along with my life time friend Ray Gale. It was a great experience and Bob was a super nice guy. We usually had more than a few beers after a lot of the races. The photo is at Watkins Glen. My condolences to Nancy who was alway at his side and the entire family.

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. He introduced me to the passion of Corvette ownership in the late 1980s, when I bought my first Corvette - a 1976, and then my long term 1970 Stingray. He was always a great person to speak with, work with, and a wealth of knowledge. I enjoyed seeing him at the various Corvette shows at Sylvan Beach as well over the years. It has been some time since I've seen him, as I've moved away. Again my most sincerest condolences.

I had the honor of meeting and knowing this man for over 40 years, and a nicer person you would have trouble finding. Always upbeat and pleasant to deal with I will never forget him letting me climb up in his rafters to pull some parts for my '72 Stingray. He would often entertain me with tales of his travels to New Zealand and other foreign adventures. When you met Bob, you could tell he truly enjoyed his life, and it sounds like he lived it to the fullest. I will miss his visits to Rumetco and the waves returned when I'd drive past his shop on my way to lunch. Another person who made this life a little more pleasurable. My Condolences to your wife and extended family. Godspeed, my friend.

To the friends of Bob, I'm saddened to read of Bob's passing recently. He and Nancy not only took great care of my classic corvettes but became friends. I pass by the old Corvette Barn multiple times a week and never miss thinking of Bob and Nancy. Bob took the final checkered flag on a wonderful life.
Our sincerest condolences to Nancy and Bob's family.

My Corvettes and I spent many hours at Bob's shop. One of the few guys I would trust with my babies. He "borrowed" the intake manifold off of my LT-1 to use on his race car "temporarily" in the late 1970s. . . no problem, Bob. Hope you're taking a victory lap.

I worked for Bob for 3 years in the late 70s and early 80s . Great guy! I remember installing a 55 gallon drum in the back of his van, with a switch to change gas tanks so he could make it to Daytona without stopping to fill up ! I still have all the envelopes that Nancy paid me with!He will be missed. Sorry for your loss Nancy.
Great memories… Tom Reed

My heart sank when I heard of “The Big Guys” passing. I first met Bob 35 years ago when he straightened out my first 1966 corvette but I really got to know Bob when he allowed me to work with him during the last two years before his retirement. Every work day was a learning experience and I absorbed so much knowledge hanging around with Bob and Nancy. Judging from his many stories he lad a great life and had no regrets. I always said he should write a book. Going to miss him. Marty and Frank Peterson.

Bob was invariably kind whenever I stopped at the Corvette Barn in the 1980's to look at the cars for sale and dream about owning a classic sports car someday. My mother often came with me, if we were in Solvay. He was generous with his time and treated me, an impecunious but enthusiastic woman in her twenties, like an equal. I later became an automobile author and wrote two books about Corvettes, vintage and modern. So I can say with certainty there were never many people who were Bob's equal on the topic of Corvettes -- although it wouldn't occur to him take that attitude. Long after, my mother would quote the things he told us about picking out a car. I have a collection of sports cars now (including a C8 Corvette). Purposefully taking after Bob, I have all the time in the world for anyone who comes over to one of them, just wanting to talk about their love of fast cars.

To Bob's Family,
I am so sad and sorry to hear about your loss. Bob was a great professional mechanic. I was fortunate to have Bob work on my '65 and '69 Corvettes and was always pleased with his expert work. Obviously, there are many Corvette owners that will miss Bob on his last ride, hopefully on a Vette.
Please accept my condolences,
Tom Dobbelaere

One of a kind, Nancy, as I'm sure you well know. Breaks my heart to read of his passing. Can't tell you how many times I told people "this is the guy you want to go to, if you want your car set up right". The two of you were an amazing team. I will forever remember and be grateful to you both, and that beautiful corner of yours in Solvay. Still hurts to drive by it and not see you there.

Sincere condolences to Nancy and Bob's family. In the mid-70s he was always happy to work on my Toyota Corona, even though it wasn't a Corvette. Here is a photo during my visit to The Corvette Barn in 2003. The stories that came with a repair well done, that was the icing on the cake.
