Obituary of Robert William Delventhal
Lawyer, Robert William Delventhal of Skaneateles, Remembered for his Integrity and Wisdom
“Uncle Bob'' as he was affectionately known to countless family members, friends, colleagues and mentees, passed away peacefully at home in Skaneateles, New York in the early morning hours of 19 November 2022. Bob loved the law, was a champion and protector of children and young adults, a devoted family man, accomplished litigator, avid sailor, adventurer and a big fan of Bob Dylan and ball games.
A graduate of Fordham College, Bob went on to achieve an LLM in labor law from New York University and his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1970. He began his career at Crummy, DelDeo, Dolan, Griffinger and Vecchione (now Gibbons) and after many years trying landmark cases and developing young trial attorneys, he retired as a senior partner from Dillon, Bitar & Luther, L.L.C. of Morristown, New Jersey.
Bob treated everyone he encountered with dignity and respect. He believed in hard work, loyalty and self determination. He overcame childhood hardships, developed his principles, met his true love, bought a piece of land in Tewksbury Township, New Jersey- built a home and a practice, and together they lived the life of the just.
Bob was predeceased by his sister Kathleen and his brother Harry. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Kathleen (Sharon) nee McCurdy, daughters Jennifer (Mihalis) and Lisa (Eric), ten nieces and nephews, and four grandchildren, Evangelia, Nicholas, Katerina and Sofia. He is forever in our hearts and his legacy of fearlessness, humility, truth, and commitment will live on through all that were blessed to have known him. Condolences may be sent to POB 744, Skaneateles, NY 13152.
