Obituary of Elizabeth Lukacs
Elizabeth Ann Lukacs, 75, of East Syracuse passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023.
Elizabeth was born in Syracuse on May 27, 1947 to the late Benedict & Florence (Zdunek) Lukacs. She was affectiontly known to her close friends and family as “Bunny”. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Nazareth College and received her Masters of Library Science degree from Simmons College. Elizabeth spent over 20 years in the Brooklyn Public Library System, where she retired as the Assistant Director of BPL’s Business Library. She moved back to Syracuse and began a second career at LeMoyne College as the Business Librarian. In her retirement she was a voracious reader, enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Kenneth Lukacs.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy (Michael) Howe, nephews, David Lukacs, Michael Lukacs, Patrick (Laura Ortiz) Howe and Philip Howe, a niece, Michele (Joseph) Zerby, great-nephews, Brandon Lukacs, Joseph Zerby, Christopher Zerby and Luis Howe. Elizabeth is also survived by her feline companion Libby as well as many friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday February 10, 2023 from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Prayer service will be held at 7pm immediately following calling hours. Burial will be private.
