Obituary of Molly Kathleen Zimmerman

Molly Kathleen Zimmerman was born January 23, 2023 to Caitlin and Eric Zimmerman of Syracuse, NY and passed away March 11, 2023 at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester, NY. 

With a shock of bright red hair and the sweetest smile ever, Molly captured many hearts during her short 47 days. Born with Down syndrome and multiple cardiac defects, she demonstrated a strength and resilience that has inspired her family, friends, and countless others. 

Molly is survived by her twin brother, James, two adoring big sisters, Niamh and Nora, and her loving parents, Caitlin and Eric.  She is also survived by her Nonnie Catherine Bennett, her Grum and Grampa, Elizabeth and Gary Zimmerman, her aunts and uncles, Erin and Dan Ganley, Mary and Justin Fatica, Paul and Leslie Zimmerman, Mark and Ashley Zimmerman, and 11 of the most caring cousins anyone could ask for.  She is predeceased by her Poppa John Bennett.

In addition to their wonderful support system, her family is forever grateful for the compassion shown to us by the various medical providers at both the NICU at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse where she spent the first six weeks of her life, as well as at Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester.

A funeral mass will take place at St. Patrick’s / St. Brigid’s Church at 216 N. Lowell Ave at 10am on Thursday, March 16, 2023 with a private burial to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dewitt.
