Carmella was my "Ma" up the street. Being Sharon's best friend, I spent a great deal of time in the Christino's house which, because of Carmella, often had the aromatic smell of onions, garlic, basil, and tomato. Carmella was close to her sisters and enjoyed long daily telephone conversations with them, much to the dismay of my family who was on the same party line!
Sharon, you were her only daughter, and, in the Christino home, that meant you had a lot of responsibility from an early age. People will correctly say that Carmella's family was blessed to have had her with them for so many years, but she was blessed to have had you as well. My sympathies go out to all her children and grandchildren who now must learn to live without her.
