A Simple Eulogy:
Eulogy for Victoria
Hello - I am Vicki’s niece and just 3 years younger than her. (So sorry I can’t be there today, I live in San Francisco, CA and just found out 2 days ago.)
Vicki had recently told me her “origin” story. Virginia, her mother remarried at 40ish to Victor…who said no children, but Virginia really wanted another child….Sooooo, she “accidentally” got pregnant; said it was peri-menopause, and Victoria was born.
She was an adorable child, although chubby. I know this too well, because I was a beanpole and got her hand-me-down dresses - which left me looking like a floating tent.
They say, the older the mother is the more intelligent the child is, and that is definitely true for Vicki.
She shared with and taught me many things. Always great books, and way too much Carpenter’s music. Really, way too much. (Hah) At 11, I came to visit for an entire summer and we stayed in her bedroom, with 2 twin beds. She showed me how to make out with boys using pillows. She said, if he can’t kiss well, don’t bother with him. Good advise.
Although I have always felt that she was a big sister to me, we didn’t always stay connected; so I’m so ever so fortunate that we met up in New York City 2 years ago for a fabulous weekend together.
I missed a lot and I will always miss her.
She was someone that you would never forgot, even if you met her just once. Besides being strikingly attractive and fearlessly sociable, she was always so absolutely present and alive. She really embodied a lot of v - words: vibrant vivacious voluptuous, a bit of a vixen, and often victorious. I miss you and I love you. May your memories always be a blessing.
