I first met Fr. Cuddy, when I was a member of the Holy Family Church - Catholic Youth Organization -
Holy Family Church was his first posting, I believe.
All of us high school CYO members, connected with him, and we all liked him a lot, as our CYO Sponsor
I was really surprised, when he entrusted to me, his one year old ,1963 Chevy Impala. I drove it to a CYO picnic at Fair Haven State Park.
I will always have fond memories of such a wonderful man.

Bill Cook Cook posted a condolence

Joan and Bill Cook (Palatine, IL) were married by Father Cuddy on 04/25/64. It was his first sacrament of marriage and next year we celebrated our 60th wedding anniversary. Approximately 10 years ago we were back visiting friends and I had the opportunity to have a phone visit with him. We wanted to express our thanks and he shared his work in prison ministry and rehab. We were able to send a box of children's books that he was so grateful to receive. We had so much to share as I also have served in prison ministry and offered retreats at women's correction centers. We value his desire to minister and grateful he offered so much. God's Blessing to your family.

Dear Pat and family, I send my deepest condolences to you all for your loss of the beautiful soul of Bill Cuddy. I have many memories of Fr. Bill's influence on our lives when my late husband and I lived in Syracuse, from Bill's work to support Unity Acres, the early days of Jail Ministry, Glory Bee, and Unity Kitchen Community where we would attend his masses, to his officiating at our wedding in 1978 as well as at Hank's Syracuse memorial service in 2012. He was a friend, a humble servant of God and a truly saintly man. RIP Bill! ❤️

Pat, all the Hoffmanns, Kathy, all the Healys, and all of the family:
We have nothing but the best memories of Bill and the many things he did, for and with our family. We are particularly grateful for the opportunities he gave to Mickey Kelly, helping her find work and purpose in her life, at a time when she needed it. There is no question that Bill followed the admonition of St. Augustine to "... take care of your soul as if you were going to die tomorrow."
When he gets to the "Big House" (the other one), there is no doubt that he will be welcomed with the words: "Well done, good and faithful Servant."
Rest In Peace, Bill. Many thanks for all that you did for us; many thanks to the family for sharing him with us during his time here on Earth.

Bill was a true champion of the individuals who were the less fortunate his dedication was unchallenged.
My mother and sister sold his bread for jail ministry.
He helped my brother who was in and out of jail often. He also officiated at my wedding. In short he was a wonderful human being a true compassionate
Man..rest in peace.

My prayers go out to the entire Cuddy Family. Bill was a kind and helpful man for me in a dark time and then was able to continue our friendship through St. Lucy's. His work and Jail Ministry is a God send. May he rest in peace

I give thanks for Bill's life and the way he shared life with others. I give thanks for being able to break bread with Bill and Pat. I give thanks for the ways I could be away from Syracuse for several years, and then pick up with Bill and Pat over a cup of coffee, or a meal, as though we had been together the day before. Thanks for being yourself and sharing life with so many people. Rick Hatem

There are people you meet for brief periods in your life whom you never forget. They influence you in subtle ways. Ways you may not appreciate until much later in life. I knew Bill as Father Cuddy when I was 11 years old, a parishioner at Holy Family Church Fairmont and enrolled in Holy Family School. At that age kids remember who was kind to them, who smiled a lot, who was understanding of all the childhood minor transgressions. Father Cuddy was that person. No talk of sin, hell, punishment , fire and brimstone ! Just acceptance, love, forgiveness and helping others. 60 years later , reading his obituary its seems he has kept true to his youthful spirit throughout his exemplary life of service to others. Rest in peace Father Cuddy ! Entry through the pearly gates seems to be a done deal !

In addition to the thousands of us who will remember Bill with love, and whose lives have been changed by his love, ministry and witness, I know that there are even more to greeted him through that veil of death into that new life saying “welcome, welcome, Bill thank you. We love you. Welcome into the joy of your Lord. “
