Obituary of Maureen McConnell
Maureen McConnell, 64, of Syracuse, NY, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 with her loving family by her side, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Maureen was a lifelong resident of Syracuse. She was an accomplished Esthetician who formerly owned Spa Nirvana and most recently was employed at Mirbeau Inn and Spa. Maureen was a caring, kind, happy and charismatic person who lit up every room she walked into. She took great pleasure in spending time outdoors and was always ready for an adventure. In her spare time, she really enjoyed hiking, skiing, biking, boating, and visiting waterfalls. Maureen loved traveling to Florida, Montana, and California with her family and spent many summers since childhood at Montario Point. When Maureen wasn’t busy outside and being active, she enjoyed sketching and was also a talented painter. She could paint any room better and faster than a professional painter and would always help her sons out if they needed a room painted. The thing that brought her the most joy and happiness was being with her four sons and her seven grandchildren. She was so proud of them all and would do anything for her boys and their families.
Maureen was predeceased by her father Edward Andreassi and mother Natalie (Andreassi) Fadden. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Gary (Jennifer) Corby, Jordan (Jennifer Gorman) Corby, Shane (Amanda) McConnell, Ryan (Lauren) McConnell and her grandchildren Mya, Shane, Juliana, Aria, Rocco, James, and Sparrow. She is also survived by her immensely loving and supportive sisters and brother, who were always by her side, Linda (Timothy) McNulty, Karen Andreassi, David (Donna) Andreassi, Donna (Daniel) Sheehan, MaryJo (Timothy) Winters, Teresa (Anthony) Dorris, Marilyn (William) Prigge, and Angelique (Sean) Strausheim, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 5th from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow mass at Valley Cemetery, Syracuse. Donations in Maureen’s memory can be made to The Baldwin Fund: https://thebaldwinfund.org.
