Obituary of Morris L. Cleverley, Jr.

Please share a memory of Morris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Morris L. Cleverley, Jr, 86, of Jensen Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2024.  Morris was born in Oneonta, New York on March 12, 1937 to the late Morris and Margaret Cleverley.

After graduating from Oneonta High School, he joined the Marine Corps and served in the 12th Marine Division during the Korean War era.  Once his time in service was complete, he went on to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology where he studied Civil Engineering.

After graduation from RHIT, Morris began his career as a process engineer at Mobil Oil in Chicago, IL.  During his time there he developed many automated processes still in use today.  This path afforded him and his wife Jane Cleverley the opportunity to travel abroad.  Later in his career he formed his own practice, Cleverley Engineering, PC and a construction arm Cleverley CM and Associates.  After many years of success designing and building industrial and retail spaces for companies such as Fay’s Drugs and Pen Traffic Corp. (P&C Foods), he wanted to give back to those who were with him from the beginning. CNY Consolidated Contractors, Inc. was formed as a design/build firm that had decades of success in the Northeast.

His favorite pastime was playing golf.  He played often with his many friends and family members.  He belonged to many golf clubs over the years and once served as President of Bellevue Country Club in Syracuse, New York.  He not only played in the United States.  He played in other countries such as Malaysia and Australia.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Julie and his wife, Jane Cleverley.  He is survived by his sister, Donna Davie; daughter, Dawn Frenza; son, Steven Cleverley; granddaughter, Rachael Frenza and nephews, Robert (Susan) Davie, Jeffrey (Linda) Davie, Greg Davie and Paul Davie.

Services will take place at Veteran Memorial Cemetery in Syracuse on March 12, 2024 at 1pm.  In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to one or both of these great veteran organizations: Cpl.
