My deepest condolences to all my dear friends in the Karpinski family.
I have known Shirley (and Ed) for most of my life. Shirley was our second mother growing up, visiting Kathy at least once a week, and more in the summer. She let us be additional children in her wonderfully welcome home. Shirley made us laugh, she knew and would always serve what the picky Tomann twins would eat when we were over. Shirley and Ed were at my wedding and through the years I looked forward to seeing her each time I came up to Syracuse. Shirley followed me on Facebook and delighted in each place I was visiting, loving to joke about where I was going next!
I loved Shirley so much.
I think one of the best memories I have was watching her with her new great grandson--the joy in her face.
That, and a recent gathering of her and all her children and grandchildren after Ed's funeral back at the house. Just being there, witnessing her quick wit and joking around (with Danny, no doubt). Magical. What a family should be.
I will miss her. Rest in peace Mrs K.
