Sorry to hear this. I first met Geordy as a fellow member of the AOH in Syracuse . I always enjoyed listening to his speeches and talking with him . He always had some information he would pass along. I always felt I could learn something from him. He was very proud of his Irish Ancestry. He was very knowledgeable about Irish History. He will be missed. RIP Geordy .

We were sorry to hear of Geordy's passing. He was a fine Irish gentleman and a proud Hibernian. I always enjoyed our conversations about Ireland, the peace process and the day when Ireland will be united. He demonstrated his love for Ireland with his music, song and involvement in Irish organizations.

I will be out of town when Geordy is waked and buried. But I wanted to tell his family that I always admired him for his dedication to family, to country and to Ireland. He was a good friend who always had good counsel and keen insight when it came to US-Ireland relations in particular the Irish Peace Process. I will miss Geordy.

I had the pleasure and the privilege of working with Geordy over the years when he’d stop by Soule library. A little tech help would always turn into an enjoyable talk, full of wit and joy. My condolences to Diane and his family. The stars over Ireland shine more brightly tonight, as he looks down at the island he loves.

My Deepest Condolences to Diane and all of Geordy’s family & friends.
No matter how long between visits, Geordy always greeted me the same!
I enjoyed knowing Geordy through the IACI, then seeing him at the ICS and AOH group events.
This years Irish Fest I did not see any of my former Irish friends and that saddened me.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Lou and I send our love and deepest condolences to Diane, her family and to Geordy's family. We will always have a deep fondness for Geordy and his Irish spirit. I can still hear Geordy's voice telling Lou and I stories about his mom. It was a lovely pleasure to have known him. He was very sweet to us and the thought of never seeing him again or getting a chance to have a chat on this Earth makes me sad. Much love and prayers of healing we send to his wife Diane who is wonderful and who was very adored by Geordy and also by us. Jennifer Keen and Lou Schoenike

Geordy, how to describe the man. Always inviting, truthful, honest and the core essence of what it means to be a Hibernian Brother. He took us under his wings as a young Hibernian family and we are forever grateful for his friendship. May God hold him in the palm of his hand. Respectfully, The Shanahans

This tribute to him was heartfelt and a true representation of the man I came to know as my friend. Geordy may be gone from our sight but never our memories, and never our hearts. Each time we embrace his memory, we meet again with those we love, for the heart never forgets.

I met Geordy and Diane when they responded affirmatively to a US Census survey I was conducting at the time. I learned about his citizenship, and over time, he and Diane invited me to learn more about my Irish roots through his affiliations and events. Geordy engaged so many of us to learn more. Always grateful. A huge loss to the community. RIP

Dear Dianne, you'll recognize Shannon O'Neill, our Irish language teacher and me at January's Holiday Party at the Marriott Syracuse. I had just introduce my entire family to him and they were all in awe of his bigger than life Irish personality. Heaven has gained a gem!

I was surprised and deeply moved by the news of Geordy's sudden passing. Surprised because it's hard to think of all that life-affirming and charismatic Celtic energy coming to an end.
But there's no end to memory, especially when it comes to a man as steeped as Geordy was in Irish history and Irish culture. Though we sometimes differed (always amicably) about politics, I admired his passionate commitment to justice and human rights, and I cherished our conversations--during events at Le Moyne or at the Prebble Hill church, and over lunch at Kitty Hoynes.
I will miss those discussions, and, of course, Geordy himself, while retaining fond memories of his engaged mind, open heart, and vital spirit. Deepest condolences to his family, especially his delightful wife, Diane.

Diane...my thoughts are with you during this terribly sad time. Geordy and Adam frequented my shop to chat and have a cup of coffee. Geordy was much like my Tom...a true gentleman, kind, warm, friendly. I enjoyed our chats. He was a proud, proud Irishman, of course, much like my father, who I lost at the age of 14. So, in many ways, I felt a kinship with him. What a great person...your Geordy. Peace, Diane.
Fondly,
Lisa (Shabby Chic Home & Garden)
