Obituary of James F. Henson
James F. Henson, 93, of Westvale, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20th, at Syracuse Homes at McHarrie Park Place. He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Catherine Henson; his beloved wife, Lucy Henson; his son, Mark Henson; grandson, Timothy Collins; his sister, Jeanne Rice; and his brother, Henry Henson.
James is survived by his children, James Henson Jr., Vincent Henson (Susan), Joseph Henson, and daughter-in-law, Kristina Henson. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Casey Collins, Collin, Mara, Lucy, and Lily Henson, and Hope Henson Keppeler. Additionally, James leaves behind his siblings: Paul Henson (Peggy), Michael Henson (Melanie), and Margaret Hayes, as well as several nieces and nephews.
James was a proud graduate of Le Moyne College and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his service, he enjoyed a long career at AT&T. Dedicated to his community, James served as a councilman for the Town of Geddes.
He had a lifelong love of music and was a member of the Tom Dooley Choraliers. James was also active in the Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Lincoln Republican Club. Known for his kind and generous spirit, James was described as a true gentleman who was always ready to lend a hand, whether fixing or building something for others.
In his free time, James found great joy driving up to Lorton Lake in his Corvette accompanied by his dog Maggie, to spend time with friends and family. His warmth and heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday December 31, 2024 at 10am at St. Patirck’s Church, Tipp Hill. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to Tunnels to Towers in his memory.
