Obituary of Jeffrey James Brown
Jeffrey James Brown, 78, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 3, 2025.
Jeffrey is predeceased by his parents, Ann Ripka and Jake Brown and his son, Jacob Thomas Brown. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Brown, his brother, Michael (Diana) Brown and his sister, Adria Ripka. He is also survived by his children, Jeanine (Scott) Antonacci, Emiliegh (John) Brown-Gallo, Mary Brown, Ashley (Brian) Montanaro, Molly Brown and his thirteen grandchildren.
Born on December 15, 1946, in Syracuse, NY, Jeff was a lifelong resident of Tipperary Hill, a community he held close to his heart. Known to many as "Brownie," he lived life to its fullest with an infectious kindness that touched everyone he met.
Jeff worked hard and played harder throughout his life, beginning his career as a highly skilled auto body painter at Canetta’s Collision before pursuing his dream and opening his own shop, Colour My World. Later, he became a beloved fixture at McAvan’s Pub, where he poured pints and shared witty Irish wisdom.
Jeff enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: a Byrne Dairy coffee shared with his best friend Jerry, testing his luck with the lotto, and cuddling with his four-legged companions. His sharp sense of humor and quick wit could light up a room, leaving everyone in stitches with his perfectly timed one-liners.
Jeff was a man of generous spirit, always ready to lend a hand—or the shirt off his back—to anyone in need. Jeff leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He is lovingly remembered as “Ole Dopey Dad” and “Papa” by his children, grandchildren, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
As Jeff’s favorite artist, Elvis Presley, sang, “Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind.” Jeff, you’ll forever live in the hearts of those who loved you.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 8th with calling hours from 9 am to 10 am, and 10 am mass immediately following at St. Patrick’s Church, 216 North Lowell Avenue, Syracuse.
