Dorothy J. Sharon (Thayer), 88, of Syracuse passed away at Van Duyn Home and Hospital on 11/25/13. She was a communicant of St. James Episcopal Church in Skaneateles, New York.
Dorothy spent most of her long work life in the restaurant business working at such renowned Syracuse area restaurants as Lorenzo's, Three Rivers Inn, The Birches, Garzones, The General Hutchison House and the Sherwood Inn. Dorothy was also a small business owner. She owned and operated Sharon's Hilltop Restaurant on Onondaga hill where her menu items were prized by folks from all walks of life. The last chapter of Dorothy's working life was as a proud member of the Onondaga County Sheriff's Dept. in the Custody Division. Dorothy lived a complete life and thoroughly enjoyed family, gardening, food, animals, dolls and people in general. She was among the kindest and most caring people to walk this earth.
Survivors: Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth A. Rogalia (Charles), her son John W. Sharon (Mary Barbara Lovas), grandchildren Deborah R. Rogalia-Brown (Michael), Charles J. Rogalia, Jr., Rory W. Sharon, Rebecca J. Sharon and Brendan J. Sharon, great grandchildren, Ashleigh Brown, Charles, Connor and Hannah Rogalia, Russell Towers, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband John J. Sharon, sisters, Hazel Liedka, Lois Sunderland and brother, Charles Thayer.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 on Friday 11/29/13 at Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Avenue. A mass of Christian burial will be held to celebrate Dorothy's life at St. James Episcopal Church in Skaneateles at 10 AM Saturday 11/30/13.
