Obituary of Robert S. Santay

Robert S. Santay, 71, died October 27, 2013 at St. Camillus Nursing Home. He was born in Ogdensburg, NY and lived his adult life in Syracuse, NY. He worked in industrial sales until his retirement in 1994. He loved hockey and was very active in Midstate Youth Hockey. He founded the Syracuse Summer Hockey School at the War Memorial and coached both Le Moyne College and Bishop Ludden.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Brown) Santay; children, Stephen Santay, Sheila (Jason) Kaczor, Christopher (Kim) Santay, all in the Syracuse area and Shannon (Tim) Kreytak of Lexington, MA; grandchildren, Daniel, Sophie and Carly Kreytak, Taylor and Connor Santay, and Carrie and Stella Kaczor. He is also survived by sisters, Sylvia Leimer of Dunedin, FL and Dorrie Pappas of Cold Springs, NY and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. and 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, October 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Warners.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Camillus for their compassion and the tireless care they gave Bob the last 18 months. We are eternally grateful.
