Yes, I am the other David J. Holihan In the area, Dave and I had our name get mixed up many times, from a checking account to season SU football tickets. We both got calls me from his constituents, him from my clients and all the time we both handled it with a sense of humor, if our last name was Smith it would never of happen. On the very rare occasion we would crossed paths we would both get a laugh out of the different stories. Over this last week I got calls from different friend about the obit in the paper, however I am sure Dave would have gotten a big laugh out the fact my high school class website emailed me for a profile update! My deepest condolences to his family and his many friends, and I am very sorry this is the last time I can say, no that’s the other guy we just share a great name.

To Kelly, Melissa and Erin-we are so sorry for your loss. The whole world is a little bit dimmer today, and will always be so without Dave. We became good friends, and often helped each other on projects like the Wall. He was a tireless advocate for all veterans, and will be impossible to replace. A very insightful man, who seemed to already know what I was about to say. I guess some vets are like that, sort of "We Few...We Happy Few... We Band of Brothers" I suppose there are lots of vets where he is now, and there will be such stories to tell. I'll miss you, Brother. RIP

Sorry for your loss. Although I did not know Mr Holihan he was a fellow Screaming Eagle and I'm sure proud of it. He now flies with his fallen brothers in heaven...

My deepest sympathy to family all; David will be remembered for his service to Country, as an accomplished County Legislator and staunch supporter of Veteran’s all.
I have many memories of David, working with him on Public Safety Committee / Sheriff’s Office projects, there was no stronger supporter of public safety.
Over the years we would meet at various functions including the Otisco Fire Dept. pancake breakfast he enjoyed and seldom missed. Rest in peace good solder, rest in peace.

My sympathies to Dave's family and friends. On the Legislature he was an able advocate of his constituents and veterans.. I remember his strong advocacy as one of the founders of the local Vietnam Veterans and the construction of the Vietnam Veterans monument in downtown Syracuse.

Very sorry to read of Dave's passing. We were neighbors of Dave's parents/family on Highridge Drive in the 60s & 70s. They were good neighbors.
I (Anne) had an opportunity to once again meet Dave many, many years later at the Traveling Vietnam Veterans Wall out at the Fairgrounds. It was nice to semi catch up after all those years.
I thought it was great that Dave was instrumental in getting The Wall to Syracuse. I was too young to understand when the War took place, but not when The Wall was here so I could pay my Respects.
My family and I would like to send our Deepest Condolences to Dave's family & friends.
