Providenza (Enza) Sereno, 92, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully at Van Duyn nursing home, on Friday, January 16th, 2015, with her loving family by her side. Enza was born July 22, 1922 in Lille Province in France. She moved to Genova, Italy when she was 12 years old. She married Salvatore Sereno in 1945 and moved to Pozzallo, Sicily. In 1966, they moved to Syracuse, New York with their four children. Enza loved baking delicious Italian cookies, gardening beautiful flowers, and knitting precious baby clothes and blankets. She took pride in her nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Salvatore, her children Anna Distefano (Pietro), Emma DeLucas (James), John Sereno (Maria) and MaryGrace Dacey (Patrick). She is predeceased by her sister Sofia Caruso and granddaughter Patricia Dacey Woods. A mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday at 10am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff on 3C at VanDuyn for the loving care they gave their "mamma." In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Joseph's House for Woman c/o Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Dr, Syracuse, NY 13219.
