Edward P. Bonner, Jr., 74, of Greene, NY, died on April 28, 2017.
Ed was born in Syracuse, NY on July 26, 1942, the son of Edward P. Bonner, Sr. and Loretta Smith Bonner. Ed grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Cathedral Academy in 1960. He attended St. Bernard's/Andrew's Seminary for Classical Languages.
Ed joined the US Army in April, 1966. He served as a Captain in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in February, 1971. Prior to his deployment to Vietnam he married Mary Jeanette Fritzen on May 27, 1967. They had a family of 5 including their 3 beloved Children.
Ed thereafter worked at Visions Federal Credit Union as a manager, overseeing loan approvals, until his retirement in 2005.
Ed loved playing golf and warm weather.
Ed was predeceased by his parents and a son Michael Raymond Bonner.
Left to cherish Ed's memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Mary; two loving children, Edward P. Bonner, III, and Laura and Travis Blaise, and grandchildren, Olivia, Zachary, Isabella and Harrison Blaise; and brothers William (Helen) Bonner of Richmond Virginia, and Richard (Mary Pat) Bonner, of Keller, Texas and several nieces and Nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30am at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave, Syracuse. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-6pm at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave, Syracuse. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital for Children, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or Shriner's Hospital for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr. Tampa, FL 33607.
Ed was a kind, gentle, unassuming man with a fabulous wit that earned him many loyal friends and the adoration of his family.
