Obituary of Carl F. Dobe
Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carl F. Dobe died at University Hospital early on Thursday morning November 10th. Although he had a long struggle with CHF, we are grateful he died so peacefully.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of almost 53 years, Mary Ann (Carr). Together they raised four daughters and one son and delighted in eleven grandchildren: Kathee and Robert and their sons Josh and Jesse; Melissa and her three children, Devin, Peyton and Regan; Kristin and Dave and their two children, David and Kelsey; Trisha and her four children, Nick, Aaliyah, Amya and Andre; and their son Eric. Carl is also survived by his dear sister Maxine and was preceded in death by his parents, Max and An.
Carl was born and raised in Syracuse, graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1950 and Syracuse University in 1954. Upon completing his law degree at Syracuse University College of Law and receiving Bar Certification in 1960, he joined Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, where he served as the company's Key Counsel for 35 years. He was also a Korean Veteran.
Carl was very active in the community. There weren't too many people who didn't know him or of him in the Westvale area, through his work at the Town of Geddes, Bishop Ludden, St. Charles and Geddes Little League. He was a friend to so many and we appreciate how many of you have walked with us on this journey.
Calling Hours are Monday, November 14, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home. A funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, November 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church with lunch to follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Upstate Hospital Adult Palliative Care, 750 East Adams St., Syracuse, NY 13210.
Our family would like to thank the incredible medical and nursing staff who have cared for Carl over the years. There are too many to name, but you know he held you close in his heart, as do we.
