Obituary of Sally H. Evertz
Please share a memory of Sally to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On the morning of November 13, Sally passed on peacefully. Sally was born on May 1, 1931, in Syracuse, to Charles J. and Arlene Hogan. She graduated from the Convent School in Syracuse in 1949, and Syracuse University in 1953, where
she was a member of the Lambda Chapter of Theta Phi Alpha.
On August 27, 1955 she married George G. Evertz, whom she had known since her childhood summers on Oneida Lake.
In 1968, she returned to Syracuse University and earned a Master of Library Science in 1974. She worked for the Syracuse City School District for 25 years, many of those years as the library media specialist at Corcoran High School.
Sally had a strong faith and was an active member of the parishes she attended throughout her adult life, first Most Holy Rosary in Syracuse, then at St. Ann's of Owasco, and most recently Holy Family Fairmount.
She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and attending musical theatre performances, but most of all, she loved time spent with her family.
Sally was predeceased by her parents, Charles J. and Arlene (Moses) Hogan, her brother, Charles E. Hogan, and three infant sons. She will be greatly missed by all those she leaves behind including her husband of 61 years, George, her children, Charlene (Edward) McGraw of Skaneateles, Johanna (Eric) Higham of Hudson Massachusetts, George (Michele) Evertz of Camillus, Sara Evertz (Jim McCarthy) of Westvale, and Laurie (Neil) LeFever of Marcellus, her fourteen grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, Emily, Jessica, Mark, Chad, Jenny, Kelley, Samantha, Erin, Ian, Noah, Jacob and Zoe and her five great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all those who have supported us through this difficult time.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday November 18th at 10am at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave. Calling hours will be held Thursday November 17th from 4-7pm at Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Skaneateles.
