Obituary of Gerard L. Syrocki

Gerard L. Syrocki died peacefully March 4, 2017 at the Hour of Mercy, at home surrounded by his family.
Gerry was born in Auburn, NY, the son of Frank G. and Violet (Kulakowski) Syrocki. He was a graduate and Salutatorian of Auburn West High School and Syracuse University Whitman School of Management.
Gerry retired from General Electric Aerospace Division after 45 years of service in Drafting/Design and Configuration Management. He served as a Supervisor and Manger in the Sonar and Radar Engineering Departments. He was a member of several GE employee groups and a Senior Elfun.
A gentle and a kind man who committed his life to family, faith and community service in the name of our Lord, he was an avid reader, active community volunteer and a member of the "IC Altar Boys" golf group. Politically active, he served as Democratic Chairman of the 11th Ward in the 1970's and twice a candidate for Onondaga County Legislature in 1967 and 1969. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, past Grand Knight and President of the CNY Chapter.
Predeceased by his parents, brother, Richard and sister, Phyllis Breck and nephews, Mark and James Breck. Gerry is survived by his wife, Bernadette (Hogan) Syrocki, and children; Mary (Bill) Burgess, Dorothy Syrocki Haag, Paul (Patricia) Syrocki, Anne (Larry) Cantwell, and Bill Haag, grandsons; Thomas and Will Haag, John Benjamin and Daniel Cantwell, nieces; Janine Graney and Jackie Breck and nephews, Richard and William Breck.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Monday, March 13th at 9am at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Syracuse, NY. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 1 to 4pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
