Obituary of Mary Read Petrocci
Mary Read Petrocci of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 12 after losing her battle to COVID-19. Mary was born in Watertown, NY, daughter to William and Sarah Read. She graduated from Onondaga Community College as a Registered Nurse. She lived in Melbourne, FL for the last 12 years working at Wave Crest Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mary was the mother to three boys, Billy, Jimmy, and Danny, who were her life. She loved to spend time taking them to their hockey games and practices where she helped the team with her nursing skills as they needed her. She had a love for all things Irish, which was a family tradition that she was sure to pass down from her parents to her children. This included an everlasting love of Notre Dame Football and Irish music from the Flyin’ Column. Everywhere she went, Mary touched peoples’ lives in many ways. From family and friends to her coworkers and beloved patients, Mary was an absolute blessing. She was dedicated to her career as a Nurse and worked tirelessly taking care of patients everywhere that she worked. For the last 18 months, Mary was an absolute hero, fighting on the frontlines against COVID-19.
Mary was predeceased by her parents.
Mary is survived by her children: William (Catherine), James (Kayla), Danny (Amanda), her former husband: Mark, Her siblings: Michael (Joan), Kathy (Michael) Halpin, Joanne (Richard) Oram, Margaret Williams, William (Sherrie), Timothy, Patrick (Natalya), and Sarah Tofani, her grandchildren: Aiden, Tanner, one little boy to come, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at St. Patrick-St. Brigid’s Church, Tipp Hill. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7pm on Monday at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Warners. Masks Required.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick-St. Brigid’s Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave. Syracuse, NY 13204.
