Obituary of Joseph Doyle Abbott
Joseph Doyle Abbott, passed away on October 20, 2023, in Syracuse, NY just two days before his 20th birthday. He was born on Tipperary Hill in Syracuse, NY, and was the beloved son of Brian and Kelly Abbott. Joe began his education at All Saints Elementary Pre-K and continued on to the West Genesee School District where he graduated in 2022. He furthered his education at Southeast Lineman Training School in Georgia, graduating in 2023. Joe returned to Syracuse and was employed by ProTel Communication as a lineman.
Joe accomplished more in 20 years than some do in a lifetime. He dedicated his time, since age 15, as a volunteer firefighter at Onondaga Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Joe was a proud lineman, everyone’s “driveway mechanic,” the 2018 Mayor’s Cup champion and conquered six high peaks. Truly he accomplished everything he set out to do and would do anything to help his family and friends. Joe had a strong love of trucks, and always needed more mods because “it’s cool.” He was always helping his friends fix their trucks up. If you wanted to find him on a Saturday night, just follow the noise to the local truck meets. Joe also shared a love of country music and was always up for a concert or just listening to the newest songs in his truck. He always enjoyed vacations in the south with his family.
In addition to his parents, Joe is survived by, and will be forever missed by, his sisters, Riley and Grace, and his brother, Matthew. He is also cherished by his grandparents, Katie and Paul (Doc) Aylesworth, as well as his aunts, Kim (Danny) Liedka and cousins, Luke, Jack, and Hannah; Melissa (Alex) Morgan and cousins, Dalton, Brayden, Cailyn, and Emmalyn; Jessica (Kirk) Bast and cousins, Gabriel and Nora; uncles, Rich (Donna) Abbott and cousins, Ryan and Josh; Sean (Tina) Abbott and cousins, Brianna Young, Mary (Brad) Kogut, and Nick; Chris (Carrie) and cousins, Payton and Madelyn and many other aunts, uncles cousins and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his loving paternal grandparents, Mary Beth and Richard Abbott.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, October 29, from noon to 3 pm at the Edward J. Ryan and Son Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 30, at 10 am at St. Patrick Church in Syracuse.
