Obituary of Suzanne E. Gleason
Suzanne "Suzie" Bass Gleason, 67 of Syracuse, NY passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024 peacefully with family by her side. Suzie was born and raised in Skaneateles, NY. She attended and graduated from Skaneateles High School where she was a cheerleader and went on to go into Nursing School in Illinois. Suzie was a dedicated and highly decorated Nurse at Upstate University Hospital for over 40 years, if you work there she knows you, she knew everyone. Suzie loved her patients and took care of each and every one of them as if they were her own family.
She was that Nurse you wanted by your bedside. She was an advocate for patients and their families, a leader and certainly wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed in. Her impeccable Irish sense of humor got many through rough times, she was always there to lend a listening ear and provide wisdom with humor.
As much as she loved her work, she loved her children and grandchildren more. She was very proud of all of them and her heart lives within each and every one of them. Suzie was extremely grateful for the simple things in life and loved giving to others. If you sent her a thank you card, she would need to send you a thank you card for the thank you card, she cared that much you knew she was thankful. She always enjoyed a good get together whether it be holidays or a regular Saturday with family full of laughs, drinks and good music. She is survived by her children Shayne (Olivia), Kada (Rob) and Breanna and her grandchildren, Addison O'Dell, Tyler, Jacob and Julia Haines. She is survived by her siblings, Lynn (Jerry) Oleksa, Mike Bass, Tim Bass and many nieces and nephews. "Just like the one winged dove" may she soar into heaven and fly freely. She will be deeply missed by many and forever in our hearts.
Services will be Friday, October 25, 2024 and made private. So when March 6th comes around each year, we will raise a glass to her as she is most certainly watching over us with her infectious smile, wanting us all to celebrate life.
