I just learned today of Steve's passing. I had the pleasure of being Steve's pharmacist for many years at the downtown Syracuse Rite Aid. Steve had the pleasure to listen to all my successes and woes in the golf world. I had the pleasure to hear his stories about Bellevue and his group of guys he played especially Mr. Harrigan. Equal trade as we laughed about it. He loved golf. He was a great listener and was a joy to see. I will miss him dearly.

My maiden name is Anne Smith [Rosary 1960 graduate ].For the past 38 yrs. i have lived in Miami, but this week i am visiting my middle son and his family and happened to see Steve's obituary write up. Sandwiched between the dynamic Vollmer brothers was a challenge. They were as nice as they were smart..and always downplayed their brains. I swear without their help some of us would still be holding down the fort at MHR .

I first met Steve at BCC. I was a new younger member at the time. I had the privilege to play with him many times with " Harrigan group' on Saturdays & Sunday's. Steve made me feel at home, he always had a kind word to offer to everyone. A true gentleman. It was a privilege to have know him. RIP my friend.
