Obituary of Stephen J. Vollmer
Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stephen J. Vollmer, 70, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning on October 8, 2015 with his family at his side. He was born in Syracuse, NY and was a lifetime resident. Steve was an attorney in Syracuse for over 40 years and worked in labor relations. His favorite job however, was being Bellevue Country Clubs most renowned and sought after caddy.
His accomplishments were many but most importantly he was a man of integrity with very little ego but phenomenal ego strength. He understood the fragility of human nature and knew how to fall down, get up, dust off and move forward. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary, son Charlie, five siblings, Tom, Maryellen Wilson, Kay Fitch, Patricia (William) Wilson, Jean (Gary) Petrick and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 10:30am at Most Holy Rosary Church, 111 Roberts Ave., Syracuse, NY 13207. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7pm at the Church. Burial will be St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Steve's memory to the Franciscan North Side Ministries, 804 North Salina St. Syracuse NY 13208 or to Most Holy Rosary.
The Vollmer's wish to thank all the family and friends, the staff at Strong Memorial Hospital and Hospice of CNY for all their help and support along the way.
